In the Flash animation above, the camera appears to pan to the right. This is achieved by moving the two top layers (Tower block and buildings) left and the bottom two layers (back buildings and sky) to the right. See diagram at top of page.

The sky layer moves in the same direction (Right) and at the same speed as the layer of buildings above it. The middle ground moves left like the top layer but at about half the speed.

In the second animation The direction of movement of the layers is the same as before but increasing the size of the layers now creates the effect of a truck in and strengthens the illusion of moving into a 3 dimensional space. Remember that layers will increase in size more slowly the further they are to the back.
