Everything starts with the drawing. The design of a character needs to be thoroughly worked
out in the rough stages. It may take scores of sheets of paper and hours
of frustration to get to this part before the computer even gets turned on.
The pencil
drawing shown on the top left hand side is my "clean" rough.
Clean, because every line is visible. Nothing is fudged or unclear. It's
a rough because it still needs "inklines" colour and shading.
